What is different between fairtrade and non fair trade chocolate?
When a product is certified as being 'fair trade' it means that those who grew the cocoa beans received a fair price and that those who harvested the beans were paid a fair wage. There is no difference in type and quality of these beans from other beans, and thus there is no difference in the chocolate. However, fair trade chocolate is more expensive because of the higher (fairer) price paid to the growers and workers.

Fair trade includes many cultures and sells products that are unique to the places they come from and the people who make them. Farmers and artisans are involved in the entire process, and fair trade tries to ensure that their products reflect the people and cultures they come from. We have fair trade so that we can support everyone in the world and give them an equal chance to survive. No one should be more important than anyone else and we should give them help to look after their families.
