it depends on your skill and the facilities you have to work with. if you came to my shop we would charge 3.2 hours to replace it.

User Avatar

expect about 2 hours labor and a recommdation from him to replace both serp belts and the timing belt too the serp belts need to removed to access the pump and the water pump is driven by the timing belt and if its gotten wet by the coolant it wont last long and may leave you stranded then its about 2 hours labor to replace the timing belt

User Avatar

it is drivin by the timing belt so its behind the timing belt cover. Not an easy job to replace. took me about 6 hours.

User Avatar

Depending on your mechanical ability and tools on hand expect to spend about 8 hours.

If you know what you are doing it shouldnt take any longer than a couple hours!

At least 5 hours. It is driven by the timing belt.

Many people recommend to purchase a Toyota Repair mannual. I think it is around $15.00 USD. The belt cost around $30-$40 and it takes around 4-5 hours to get done. I think if you check out some specials from Toyota Dealer, they charge around $300 for a timing belt change.

im a Toyota tech. in a fully equipt garage it should take about 3-4 hours. you will probably be charged about 8 hours flat rate

It should take an experience mechanic 12 hours to replace the timing gears cover. It is worth noting that every bolt removed must be noted and placed back into the same hole

You did not mention a 4 cyl or a V-6. These times came from a shop book for repair time estimates. valve cover gasket: 4 cyl 0.8 hours, V6 2.8 hours for both rear crank seal: automatic 8.6 hours, manual 7.2 hours spark plugs: 4 cyl 0.6 hours, V6 1.4 hours sway bar bushings: 0.9 hours (to replace the sway bar) timing belt: 3.0 hours (this might be on the low side depending on other services performed) At $100-$125 an hour, you are looking at a sizable bill.

It will take you approximately 6 hours, if you keep the timing marks in place. Also, consider replacing water pump at same time, it takes about 20 minutes longer to do it as you replace the timing belt.

The duration of Bad Timing is 2.03 hours.

Thermostat is located next to the water pump, it can not be seen with all the timing covers in place. It takes about 7 hours of labor to replace, and should be done when the timing belt/ water pump is done.

It depends on if you are used to playing with tinker toys or space shuttles... and what model year. If you are savvy to do-it-yourself mechanics, it should take about an hour and a half per side. If you have never done it before, I STRONGLY suggest the aid of a good manual with lots of pictures and instruction verbage.

The approximate cost of replacing an alternator on a 1996 Toyota Avalon depends on whether you do it yourself or have a shop replace it. The alternator costs around $125 and it would take about two hours of labor for a total of approximately $300 if a shop did it.
