The Great Compromise involved both houses of Congress. It based the number of representative in the House of Representatives on population and the number of Senators on a set number per state. It was a compromise between the large states and small states.

The Great Compromise of the Constitution resulted in new branches of government. These branches are still in use today, they are the legislature, with the two houses.
The Great Compromise combined these two plans creating our current legislature with two houses, one based on population and elected by the people.
