The attacks by Orcinus orca are fatal because they are an "apex predator"- that is, they are at the top of the food chain. In South America, Pacific Ocean side, they are known to surf ashore to take unaware seals! In the Arctic, they are known to take Polar bears. They are highly effective. They often work together to separate a calf from its mother, sink and drown it, then share it on its' way to the bottom. They ARE whale killers.
To my knowledge, only 3.
1. A trainer slipped into the pool of Tilikum and his pregnant mate. They weren't used to people in the pool so they eventually attacked and drowned them.
2. A man was found dead in Tilikums tank at Seaworld. He was highly intoxicated (drunk) and died of hypothermia.
3. Dawn Brancheau, Tilikum's trainer was pulled into the orcas tank, thrashed around and eventually died of drowning.
From what I can find in related news stories it looks like Tilly has been involved in three deaths.
