There are 2, possibly 3 bolts attaching your starter on the upper right side (pass side) to your transmission, they are awkward to get at, but can be removed from under the truck, the starter itself is located just forward of the transmission, and has one quick disconnect wire, and one main power wire held on by a nut, they will both need to be disconnected from the starter... installation is the opposite of removal
Place car safely on stands or ramps Starter is attached to the gearbox under car Disconnect battery Undo main power cable from front of starter Unplug solenoid wire from front too (thinner cable) Undo two mounting bolts Remove starter (old cliche) lol now installation is reversal of removal process Hope this helps...
In general for GM products there are two main mounting bolts and rear brackets on some models. There is also the main hot wire and ignition wire.
yes,of course- starter has 2 main mounting bolts,and some wiring looms
remove the only 2 mount bolts that hold the starter on and the nut holding the main wire then pull the starter straight out, though usually you'll have to pry it out.
to fit a starter motor it is normally held in by 3 maybe 4 bolts dependant on what car it is. these bolts are normally easily found when the starter motor is found which will be located either on the back or the front of the engine. attached to the gearbox. there is aso the main feed wire connected to the starter which must also be removed but always remember to disconnect the battery terminals before removing the starter.
remove the air box and the battery. the starter is held by 2 14mm bolts. the main power line is connected by a 12mm nut. there is a 1 wire connector to the solenoid.
On the 1988 2.9 v6,the starter is on the drivers side ,at the bottom of the motor. 2 bolts hold it in,one main wire on tale end.
To locate the starter motor you open the bonnet then look between the radiator and the gearbox you will then see the starter motor the live wire coming from the battery goes to the starter motor so just follow that. The starter motor is held into the gearbox with 3 bolts and a bracket at the other end. This bracket needs removing before you undo the 3 main bolts as the starter wont come off with this bracket on.Make sure you know where the wires go when you put it back together
Disconnect the battery. The starter is located on the back side of the engine (the side closest to the firewall). Undo the main battery cable from the starter solenoid (held in place with a nut and washer). Disconnect the two smaller leadwires (push-on connector) from the solenoid. There are three bolts holding the starter to the bellhousing and either one or two bolts holding the support bracket from the starter to the engine block. Remove all the bolts and then the starter can be taken out by passing it underneath the intake/injection manifold and taking out the passenger side of the engine compartment (right side if facing forward). engine must be removed from the car. that requires removal of all electrical connectors, both half-shafts(from axles), 2 fuel lines, vaccum line from brake booster and from top of throttle body, main air tube from air box(where air filter is changed), air box must be removed as well as radiator, and battery holder, and exaust manifold from the exaust pipe. 4 bolts hold engine to the car, and for manual transmission, shifter and stabilizer bar. once engine is removed from car, 4 main bolts, 2 minor bolts, and 4 tiny bolts hold transmission to block. 4 tiny bolts hold on the dust shield( thin plate attached to block), 2 minor bolts, 1 on each side attached to brackets on the block, then 4 large bolt, 2 near the head come out toward the transmission as well as 1 lower rear bolt. final large bolt comes out toward the exaust manifold and is on the lower front. removal of the starter is required to remove the upper rear main bolt and it has 2 bolts(to transmission) and 2 nuts (for the bottom bracket of the starter. without more info, this is the best i can offer, ...{ASMDEMON}
you have eight main bolts. 10
