Impossible to answer, without knowing how well it has been maintained all of these years. I have a 1989 Cherokee. With reasonable maintenance (oil changes every 4k to 8k miles), I have 249,000 original miles on her. No transmission issues or heavy engine work. Just the normal water pumps, fuel injectors, etc. issues. Maintenance and driving conditions play a HUGE factor in vehicle longevity, as well as intervals between major mechanical breakdowns. As far as I have experienced, and from what I have heard reported from other Jeep owners, this vehicle is by far one of the hardest cars to 'kill'. It just keeps on running and running.....

I Have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport inline 6 cylinder. There are 210,000+ miles on the engine and I drive it everyday.

The only repairs I've made since I bought the jeep new are:

replace alternator once

replace electric fan motor once

replace blower motor once

replace battery twice

replace belt once

replace left headlight once

replace taillight once

tune-up (plugs,cap, etc) once

replace tires 3 times

and I change the oil every 4000 miles

I've never done anything else to this jeep but wash it and drive the heck outta it.

It's been great !....knock on wood..

I sold my 1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with 257,000 miles on the inline 6 and got 3500 bucks for the thing. I wish they still made them.
