My 6.0L is a 2007 model. It's my worktruck and I've got almost 60,000 miles on it with no problems at all. If you think that they are total junk, they're not. My friend has an '06 with 137,000 miles. The only problem he's had is one bad injector. That's it. I worked on a 2003 1/2 model 6.0L Powerstroke that had 331,964 miles. The only repair problems with it were a replaced flywheel and two injectors. He was in the shop for an oil change...

As for Duramax, they've always been behind in quality but not power. So I'd say, here in 2010, that Powerstroke is the BEST diesel engine available in a pickup truck.

The 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine does put out good power but there are much more better engines that the 6.0L Powerstroke. Some problems consist of blown turbos, blown injectors, and broken seals. I know guys that have between 250,000 miles to 300,000 on their 6.0L Powerstrokes with minimal problems. My 6.0L is a 2007 model and right now it has 55,000 miles and I've had no problems yet. It's proven to be reliable to me so far.

My personal experience was a 1997 Ford F-350 with 7.3L Powerstroke (my work truck) and it was reliable for 450,000 miles. When I sold it, it had 450K miles. The guy I sold it to is a friend of mine, and he has kept everything stock and it is still running strong. He just hit the 500,000 mile mark.I beg to differ I own a 7.3L powerstroke and after 55,000 miles four injector sleeves cracked which resulted in the fuel getting into the coolant system. This is a very common problem with these engines which ford acknowledges but won't recall.
