The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibits anyone from being elected President more than twice.
Interesting fact: The last time a Democrat was elected President while the incumbent President was another Democrat was when James Buchanan was elected while Franklin Pierce was in office... in 1856! Those who tried but failed were John C. Breckinridge and Stephen A. Douglas in 1860, William Jennings Bryan in 1896, James M. Cox in 1920, Adlai Stevenson in 1952, Hubert Humphrey in 1968, Al Gore in 2000, and Hillary Clinton in 2016.
Barack Obama served as the President of the United States for two terms. He was inaugurated on January 20, 2009, and served until January 20, 2017.
Since Mr. Obama was re-elected in 2012, he will remain president until after the 2016 election. The 26th Amendment to the Constitution does not allow him (or any other president) to serve more than two terms.
A term equals 4 years. A president can serve up to 2 terms meaning 8 years. For example. President Obama has been president for almost 4 years. His term is almost up. They will have an election in November and if President Obama wins, he will be president for four more years. Only 2 terms is the most for a president.
No. The 22nd Amendment prohibits an individual from being elected for more than two Presidential terms. Obama was elected for his 2 terms.
Obama can be president for two terms. Since he won re-election in the 2012 presidential race, he will in fact serve a second four-year term. But presidents are no longer allowed to serve more than two terms in office.
He cannot. By constitutional amendment, no president may serve more than two terms.
Since U.S. presidents can not serve more than two terms, when Barack Obama's second term ends, he will no longer be able to run for president. In November 2016, there will be an election, and a new president will be chosen.
Yes. Unfortunately weapons have gotten more sophisticated, and Obama as the president has been subject to more death threats than any previous president.
President Obama holds the office because, after a long and arduous campaign, he received more votes.

No. After years of tradition where Presidents served no more than 2 terms, Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the only President to serve more than 2. He was in the beginning of his 4th term (his third re-election) when he died. In 1947, the 22nd Amendment was passed which limited Presidents to 2 terms. It was ratified by the states in 1951.
