I do not know the exact answer, but I do know that 292 slaves was considered roomy, as other slave ships were far more crowded. This number was of the British slave ship Brookes under regulated slave trade.

∙ 13y agothey would pack so many of them because there was a high demand in slavery in the south. To transport many "slaves" was cheaper than it was to transport little amounts of slaves. Cheap to transport and cheap to buy.
