Steve Irwin was scared of parrots because he was bitten many times by them and is very nervous around them. The only parrot he was not afraid of was his black cockatoo.
you may or may not bleed if a snake bite you
He was killed by a stingray, but wrestled crocs... also, CRICKEY! Source: Been to Austalia Zoo many times (his wildlife reserve)
Garter snakes can be very aggressive but they are not dangerous. I've been bitten many times. If you are bitten just clean the wound (you probably won't even need a bandaid) and drive on.
It won't be easy to "catch" a rat or mouse. You should go to a local pet store instead, and make sure they don't have diseases. I've also heard that if you're feeding a rat to a snake, you should hit it against the wall a few times to dumb it down, that way your snake is not in any danger to be bitten.
Depends on the species of snake ! I've been bitten many times in the 25 years I've kept reptiles. Fortunately none of my animals are venomous so, a quick wipe with antiseptic usually stops infection. It's kinda like being gripped by a pair of pliers (mole-grips)
some times
If someone got bitten by a venomous snake, another pioneer would take a knife and cut an "x" at the bite location. They would then suck out the blood and hopefully the poison. Sometimes this worked and sometimes this didn't. If it didn't work the victim would most likely die. If they happen to be lucky enough to survive, the body part that was bitten would normally have to be amputated. If they were bitten on their core, death was almost certain.
