∙ 12y agoThe 24 references of 'anointing' in the Old Testament, all refer to the pouring out of oil or ointment on some holy vessel or on some priest.
One reference in the New Testament refers to this practice also, (James 5.14); and the final reference, (1 John 2.27), refers to the presence of the Holy Spirit with us always.
So there are three meanings for anointing in The Bible; one, as to pouring oil on a holy object, (OT); one as to pouring oil on a person: and one, as to the Holy Spirit within a person.
Please read Psalm 133 in this regard, and you may see the importance of the anointing and its meaning when Aaron the High Priest is anointed.
