If you go full time and take at least one class over each summer without dropping or failing any courses, 4 years for a bachelor's degree. A year of co-op/hands-on training/internship is needed in some colleges, putting the time to 5 years. I recommend shooting for a master's; it will be worth it, and it requires you to truly put your skills and knowledge to work. (6-7 years).

The actual length of time depends much on how long it takes a student to prepare and defend their dissertation which typically follows the prescribed credit coursework. The dissertation is an individual student project advancing an original view point on a topic of the students choosing. It is developed through extensive supporting research and must be approved by the designated committee.
