In a 2007 study (see the related link below), research indicated that even infrequent use of marijuana can lead to a 40% increased risk of developing psychosis, which is a serious mental disease.
This is just one of many studies supporting the fact that using marijuana can most certainly be detrimental to one's health.
its not. the only danger from smoking marijuana is the ridiculous outdated Nazi like laws that the D.E.A. tries to impose on hard working, consenting adults. these laws not only put nonviolent offenders in the same prisons as murderers and rapists, but they also make drug trade more profitable and therefore more people are going to take bigger chances for their share of the wealth. For example, when the police arrest one dealer the demand for that drug doesn't fall but the supply has been disrupted so the price goes up making more people willing to take the risk. We can all work together to put an end to the -war on the American people-legalize "soft" drugs and raise the penalties for the "hard" drugs. This would keep drugs out of the hands of our children, and bring in billions of dollars in taxes. It would also help end the violence in Mexico raging out of control between the drug cartels and the police by making the black market drug trade from Mexico to the US collapse because the demand for drugs would be almost obsolete. People would be more likely to go to the store and buy marijuana legally than risk going to a shady dealer in the streets. We need common sense laws in America and we need them NOW. Too many young kids in this nation get possession charges that haunt them forever, making it almost impossible for them to get a house or a job or even too seek higher education when they get older. And thus they enter the "system" essentially forcing some to become career criminals and growing the private prison business. Give people treatment for addiction to dangerous drugs like meth, heroin, and crack. Quit making criminals out of sick people that's just not right. Remember, pot gets you thru times of no money better than money can get you thru times of no pot.
Because of government/religious Propaganda. It's actually one of the safest substances in the world. Realistically you can't overdose on it. You'd have to smoke 1,500 lbs in a space of 15 minutes without passing out to have a 50% chance of dying. Marijuana is most commonly sold in either grams or ounces, so you do the math. No one in recorded medical history has ever died from smoking too much. Can't say the same about alcohol (alcohol poisoning) or cigarettes/cigars (cancer). Furthermore, recent studies have shown that THC (one of two main chemicals in marijuana) shrunk cancer tumors. It has a lot of medical uses, and even the AMA (American Medical Association) just recently called the government to look into re-scheduling marijuana from a Schedule 1 (no accepted medical use, such drugs are LSD, heroin, and PCP) to a Schedule 2 (stimulants like amphetamine salts, sold under the name Adderall and Ritalin). Obviously if the AMA wants it to be rescheduled there must be some sort of accepted medical use.
Um... Anxiety when high/shortly after high, paranoia during the high. Makes you space out. Not really many side effects.
Cannabis smoke carries even more tars and other particulate matter than tobacco smoke.
As it is a drug I am very much against legalizing marijuana in any way.
Marijuana for the purposes of medicine.
This question cant really have a true answer. Its not known if the US will even legalize it. They might Decriminalize it which is different from Legalizing it, but its not really known when that day might come.

CALM (Citizens against legalizing marijuana)
Legalizing marijuana would do nothing but benefit the economy and ecosystem. Not legalizing it would not change how many people use it for its benefits.
by legalizing marijuana
There is no GOOD excuse not to.
