from inside the tailgate... which reminds me...
I just bought a new cabin air filter at a local auto store for my 2003 4Runner. Cost me $28. I found instructions in the box on how to change it. It took me 10 minuets to do it. Toyota wants $58 to change it.
$10-$75
Purolator has a cabin filter that sells for $47.49 at Advance Auto Parts.
$23
Which air filter are you referring to? The engine air filter, or the cabin air filter?
about $20 from walmart
Too much! I just changed the air filter and cabin filter in my 08 Honda Fit in about 4 minutes (and it was the first time I have ever done it myself). The dealership wanted $60 to replace my cabin filter alone. The part cost me $9 at Advance Auto Parts.
Doesn't have one. $50K+ cost and no filter.
It's easy: on the 2007, 2008, 2009 Tundra and the 2003 4 Runner are all in the same place. I suspect it's the same on the 2005 4 Runner I own a 2003 4 runner and a 2008 Tundra. It is behind the lower glove box. Just open glove box disconnect the little piston rod on the right side then squeeze in the side supports so the glove box will open all the way down. The cabin filter it right behind the glove box. You will see a snap on door that covers the filter. Pull it off and slide out the filter. The filter cost me $28
Not all PT Cruisers, but, newer 2006 did come with the cabin filter. The OEM is changed thru the Glove box, the add on is changed by removing the firewall cowl... Kind of a pain to change, but, I put one on my 2002 an the filter cost 14.00 at your Chrysler dealer...
Today (6/20/12) after my CARMAX 52,000 Maintenance was completed I had a note on the invoice that my cabin air filter was dirty and needed replacement. I asked why they did not replace it and was told they did not carry the part. I checked on line for the filter and received information that the part number was PC5082 for the 'Cabin Air Filter - 1996 - 2008 Mercury Sable' $6.99. I called my local Ford Dealter 'Liberty Ford 410-655-2000' to see what the cost of the part and installation was and was told that the 2008 Mercury Sable does not have a Cabin Air Filter. So your guess is as good as mine.
Estimate from the Dealer was $850, my mechanic charged me $500. Half cost of remanufactured alternator and the other half is for installation.
