It depends on many variables...(2001 Maxima SE, loaded) we spent over $1400 by the time we found a remanufactured ECM, replaced the throttle body/MAF assembly which shorted and took out the ECM, etc. The ECM was vehicle specific, right down to sheel size, trans type, options, etc. Had a very hard time finding a replacement for this particular car.

After much research we found a company in IL that repairs them for reasonable $, but mine was fried beyond repair. They found a used one, cleaned and certified it for $400 (with 1 year warranty on the part). The company is SIA Electronics, Tilden, IL (800-737-0915). My local Nissan dealer was trying to help us avoid spending $1400 for a new factory ECM (if they could find one). They checked out SIA and said they are reputable (I'm in Maine). I don't do business on the internet as a rule but didn't have much choice in this case. The people at SIA were very nice, quick turnaround, etc. The Nissan dealer said the part arrived looking like new, they were impressed and said they'd do business with SIA if they needed ECM's or ABS control modules.

We ended up spending about $1400... $400+overnight shipping for the ECM, about $600 for a new Nissan Throttle Body Assy complete, $400 labor for installation of all of it.

If you only need to replace the ECM and can send it to SIA for repair you might be able to get it done for $300 or less, depending on repairs needed.

GOOD LUCK! My daughter's car was down for well over a month before we tracked everything down and got back on the road.
