It depends on the size of the airplane. On a small Cessna one man can carry one side of the wing by himself. On an airliner it takes a crane to carry it. The weight is not as big a factor as the wings shape to produce lift. With enough power any wing can be made to fly.

Typical short haul to medium haul planes (i.e. Airbus A320 family or Boeing 737, these are typically used by budget airlines, e.g. for flights within Europe, with passenger capacities from 150-200 passenger) have a maximum take-off weight of 60-100t. Roughly 60% of that is the weight of the empty plane. About 20-30t of this weight is fuel, if the plane is fully fuelled.

The biggest commercial intercontinental airplanes, used on long-haul flights, are the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. These have take-off weights around 330t (early B747) up to 570t (A380), with fuel capacities of up to roughly 200 (B747) to 300 (A380) tonnes.

How much an airplane weighs will vary greatly due to its size, fuel capacity, passenger capacity, luggage, etc... For example a 737 or an A320 may weigh between 60 to 70 metric tons for a short-haul flight.

Why are there restrictions placed on the dimensions and weight of luggage that is put on aeroplanes?

The dimension is important for carry on luggage because of the limited space aboard the plane. The weight is important due to weight and balance. Some plane has a has a weight restriction, that can only carry so much. The reason can vary on how much fuel is needed for a trip to the weather.

Does packages go by plane?

Will the nose of a paper airplane affect flight?

Not so much the shape of the nose that affects the flight of a paper plane, but the weight. If the weight of the plane isn't distributed properly the angle of attack is too small or to large making the plane nose dive or stall. Make sure there is weight in the center of gravity of your model.

How does weight placement affect flight?

The answer is no. A plane can fly many distances no matter what the weight is, unless it is too heavy, then it won't touch from the ground. The amount of fuel however does affect its distance. The more fuel you have the further a plane can go. However, if the plane is heavy it requires more fuel compared to a plane that is lighter going to the same destination.

How much does a passenger plane weigh?

Depends on the plane, from the biggest (Airbus A380) 276,800kg to a smaller plane (Boeing 737) 38,147kg, however this is only the empty weight you also have to factor in passengers, fuel and luggage.

How much does the average plane weigh?

The weight of planes does vary based on the style. A smaller plane could weigh around 50,000 while a big one can be closer to 300,000.

What would happen if you were on a plane and had no weight to you?

If you were on a plane and had no weight to you you would float in the plane like there was no gravity, even though there is but if the plane was angled precisely you can float in the plane as if gravity was turned off. But this only lasts a few minutes as you come closer to land.

How can snow crash an airplane?

When snow accumulates on the wings of a plane, that causes two problems. First, the snow has weight, and there is only so much weight any plane can carry. Secondly, the snow alters the aerodynamics of the wing. Wings have a specific shape to produce the kind of airflow that keeps the plane up, and snow alters that shape.
