I have moved lots of times, from across the street to crosscountry moves to other states. Besides the cost of the moving truck, there are also miscellaneous expenses that creep up, including deposits, repairs to your new home, additional eating out during the time of moving, and buying cleaning products and food for the new house. For some reason, I usually have car repairs and other expenses of that sort. So, you would want a rainy day fund as well as saving for the costs you can predict.
