A faulty crankshaft position sensor will stop fuel delivery and ignition spark preventing the engine from running. The sensor is roughly over $60 at a local parts store. I honestly do not know where the crankshaft sensor is on that specific car, but I can say that the crankshaft sensors are usually conveniently located and should take under one hour. (1hour) x (average labor cost of $80/hour) + (cost of sensor... let's say $100)= $180 = the most I would expect to pay. Hope this helps!
On a 1997 Ford Taruas I was just quoated from Ford Dealer 375.00 labor plus parts
The crankshaft sensor on a 2000 Nissan Xterra is located at the rear of the engine near the bell housing. It continuously monitors the crankshaft and updates the vehicle's computer on its status.
