A 2004 Wrangler gas tank holds 19 gallons of fuel but you can only use 15 gallons of it. The electric fuel pump is located in the top of the tank and the pick up for the fuel pump does not reach all the way to the bottom of the tank. Persumably this is so you do not suck sediment or water into the fuel system. You can change this set up though. Pull the fuel pump out of the tank and slide the pick up into a lower position: squeeze the two tabs on the sides of the pick up tube and pull the tube down until the tabs click into the lower set of holes. Re-install the pump. You will gain four gallons of fuel to extend the range of your Jeep. The gas gauge will not move until you use that first four gallons unless you change the fuel lever sender in the tank. This is a dealer only part and runs a bit over $200. I didn't bother with it. As long are I know when I'm almost out of gas, I'm happy.
