WRONG -> 2.7 liters or 2.8 quarts depending on model it takes dextron 2 or 3 Borg Warner T5 manual transmission doesn't use automatic transmission fluid or (ATF) it uses gear oil.
Both the vintage Borg-warner and the newer Richmond gear Super T 10 both have a capacity of 2.4 pints or you can just fill it till you can just touch the gear lube with your pinky through the fill hole.
If off a transmission, then it is for a Borg Warner Super T-10 transmission with an aluminum case. The gear ratios can be determined by the number of grooves in the input shaft. 2 grooves equals a "close-ratio" design (2.43 first gear) and 3 grooves equals a "wide ratio" design (2.64 first gear). Although it is a Super T-10, the aluminum cases are not as relaible or strong as the nodular iron case.
Check side of transmission
The temperature will keep the 1986 ford tempo automatice transmission to stay in first gear because this car was design for the cold. Changing the gear to early and a cold temperature could ruin the car.
I have to assume you mean "What is a Doug Nash 4+3?" If that is the case then I can answer that question. The Doug Nash 4+3 is a transmission that Chevy used in the Corvette from 1984-1988. It is a Borg Warner ST10 gear box with a Doug Nash overdrive unit mounted on the rear of the transmission. It allowed 4 forward gear ratios by shifting the manual ST10 portion of the transmission and an additional 3 forward ratios when the overdrive unit was engaged in gears 2,3 and 4 thus the name 4+3.
get a new transmission or rebuild yours
the transmission is always in gear. if its not there is probably a stripped gear in the transmission.
The transmission casing contains the transmission and final drive gear.
automatic or manual? automatic, use mercron manual, use gear lube
According to the 1941-1949 Diamond-T manual (warner t-9). Use 90 wt hypoid (rear end) lube. I have been running 50-w75 valvoline gear oil for 2 years.
If the transmission has not been run with the water in it, then chances are you can drain, refill & run the transmission using a cheater hose instead of an oil cooler. Do this a few times then reconnect the new oil cooler & top off the transmission with enough fluid to fill the transmission & cooler circuit. If the transmission was run with the water in it, then you should disassemble & clean out the inside. Make sure to "pop" out the reverse & forward pistons to get the water out. Reassemble & fill transmission with enough fluid to fill transmission & cooler circuit. Answered by Scott @Marine Gear & Power systems, Ft. Lauderdale, FL. email: margear@bellsouth.net
