305 is a small cubic engine the cam sounds about right for it but keep in mind the small bore so you really dont need the 1.94 valves get you some 601 ho heads they have a lil bigger valve than most 305 heads but not quite 1.94. run a flat top piston and a thin gasket cuz compression is horsepower. make sure you dont over carb it and you should be good to go.
The H.O. stands for High Output. The H.O. has more horsepower and more torque. The H.O. uses the firing order of the 351 V8 and the heads and cam are different. The H.O. has roller rockers, forged pistons, & higher compression ratio.
If the engine has iron heads and press-in studs, then no, you don't need guide plates. If the engine has aluminum heads or iron heads with screw-in studs, then guide plates would be appropriate.
I know exactly what you mean, I have the same engine in my Pimp-Mobile. Homie! You get roughly 4,000,000 horsepower from it. You go from 0-60 in .12 seconds. I KNOW THAT IS SSSOOOOO FAST!! sry caps.
