Essex is a commercial manufacturer of 1911 frames and slides. They are not a military armory. You may be looking at the slide, which is often of military manf., and mated to an Essex frame. The company is known as "Essex Arms", and based in Hardwick, VT. They have been in business for over 30 years. Most appraisals would not benefit the real value of the pistol because we have no way of knowing who built it. There are many basement gunsmiths out there who threw these things together without the benefit of proper knowledge, and others turned out reliable shooters.
Any shooter grade 1911 in good condition starts at $300.00. These can be the basis for good, reliable shooting pistols.
The serial number starts with three letters. What you have listed looks like an assembly number. The sn is located on the butt of the pistol
Hmm -- is "2144891" the correct S/N or was it correct in the previous question, where it was "214891"? The answer changes considerably. Savage made three different semi-automatic pistols in .32 ACP and used a continuous serial numbering system for all three. The last Savage .32 ACP pistol made had a serial number of only 259472, so the number you are providing is either incorrect or not a serial number. The serial number should be stamped below the barrel at the front of the frame.
The value of any firearm is based on exact make, model and condition. You gave us one of the three things we need. Serial number does not tell us the model or condition.
That will depend on make, model and condition. We need all three, but you did not give us any of the three factors. You told us year, nation and caliber.
Value of ANY gun is based on exact make, model and condition. You gave us one of the three items we need. Sorry-
Value depends on condition. Please check the blue book value for the gun without accessories
Yep. A serial number is only unique to a given make and model. Browning used to sell a lovely 3 pistol set of very fancy pistols- three different models, but all 3 guns in a set have the same serial number.
The value of ANY firearm is based on exact make, model, and condition. We cannot tell ANY of the three from a serial number.
