If you have the standard 8mg Suboxone, try cutting it into quarters. Take one quarter of Suboxone and wait about one hour. If you still feel crappy, try taking another quarter. Suboxone is strong, effective stuff! I was addicted to 80-120mg of Oxycontin and one quarter of Suboxone completely melted away my withdrawal symptoms.

If your son is truly taking his suboxone, he would not get high from Heroin so there would be o reason to do both. Does Lortab help with heroin withdrawal?
Lortab (hydrocodone / acetaminophen) can help reduce the severity of heroin withdrawal, since both hydrocodone and heroin bind to the opioid receptors. However, heroin is much more powerful and long-term use leads to the creation of more opioid receptors and cross-tolerance to other opioids, so it may take a significant amount of hydrocodone to experience any noticeable relief from heroin withdrawal. From my own experience, it took 40mg of hydrocodone (4 x 10mg Lortabs/Vicodin/Norcos or related medications, 5.25 x 7.5mg hydrocodone-containing pills or 8 x 5mg of any of the above pills) to have any noticeable effect of reducing withdrawal if I had skipped my Suboxone for a day. However, I did not feel high whatsoever. Over time, it took a greater amount (typically 10x 10mg Norcos) to feel normal. Your best route for heroin withdrawal treatment is Suboxone, if you can afford it. I would create a plan for being weaned up front to decide what should be done.

When taken intravenously it is clear out much faster, sometime as little as 12 hours. It also depends on the size of each individual as well as the amount of heroin done.

I definitely don't feel the effects of alcohol as much on Suboxone, much like other opioid medications act. If I do feel a little hung over, the Sub seems to help me feel better.

Suboxone does not show up in drug tests. It only shows up if they specifically test for it, which my doctors say is very rare.
