Military doctors enter the military as Captains in the Army, Air Force and Marines, and Lieutenants in the Navy. Entry pay for that rank is $3400 per month.

Actually, a military physician straight out of medical school makes about $90,000/year before they are even board certified. After residency and everything it's closer to $120,000/year. That's more like $10,000 a month, not $3,400. Depending on their specialty they can make more than that. That includes base pay for a Captain, Housing Allowance, Food Allowance, special pays and incentive pays. Considering the military typically pays for medical school so military MD's/DO's don't have to worry about the $150,000 in debt that the average doctor has out of medical school, and the fact that they don't have to worry about malpractice insurance, it's a pretty good deal. You can Google "military pay charts" for specific rates.

One correction to the first answer: The Marine Corps doesn't have a medical corps. All of the medical personnel that serve Marines are in the Navy.
