Whatever the vehicle specs call for. There isn't one universal amount for all vehicles.
Yes!
changing ac compressor only, how much oil do i add 2.7 Toyota tacoma 1999.... 6 ounces
If you are only changing the compressor, add 3 ounces into the suction port of the compressor before you attach hoses. After hoses are attached rotate the compressor by hand clockwise several turns to distribute the oil.
Its always best to drain the oil from the old compressor and then add that same amount back to the new compressor but to be on the safe side add 4 ounces and prime it on the bench first...
You should add 4.5 liters of oil when changing the oil and the oil filter.
Add 4.5 quarts 10w30, start engine, check and adjust level.
Remove the compressor and pour it in. If its making noise its probably to late and you will need to replace it.
The entire system takes about 8 oz. That is spread out thru all the components. If a hose didn't blow where you would lose alot of oil and you are just replacing the compressor, I would add 3 oz to the pump during installion. Add 4 to 5 ounces of oil into the a/c compressor and then prime it on the bench before you install it.........
It takes 6.5qt when empty/new with no oil in the cooler, but if you just changing the oil it will take 4.5 qt.
I'm not sure that this is a DIY job. My Haynes manual has no information about actually repairing a compressor. It does, however, go into length about changing out the entire compressor. You should have the system depressurized by a certified AC tech. There are environmental considerations here. Haynes says that when you replace the compressor, to be sure that it A. has oil already in it or B. drain the oil from the old compressor into a graduated container. Add the exact same amount of new oil into the new compressor. When replacing the compressor, you'll also have to replace the accumulator/drier and the expansion (orifice) tube.
That's determined by the make and model of the vehicle, not by the engine displacement.
This is an oiless compressor; it requires no oil at all.
