Well that would depend on the horses overall size, not his age. The following formula is used by Texas A&M University.Also keep in mind the measurements are in inches. OK measure the horses 'girth' by using a seamstress' measuring tape and wrap it around the horses barrel and wither, write down that number to save for later. Now measure from the point of the horses shoulder to the point of the horses buttock and write down this number. Now do the following math equation. Girth X Girth X length Divide by 330= the horses weight in pounds. The horse should be close to this it is accurate to withing 30 pounds. You may need to adjust it upward for an older horse.
