Do not buy a hamster at a store- they are likely to be unhealthy, and you are supporting an industry that contributes greatly to suffering. There are already way too many homeless and unwanted pets in this world (look at Craigslist in any major city if you do not believe me). Breeders are creating more ! Instead, if you do your research and decide that you are capable of taking good care of a hamster- go to a shelter and adopt one. At my local shelter it was 5$ to adopt my little buddy- please bear in mind that there are many more expenses than the hamster (food, a LARGE and suitable housing arrangement (most sold in pet stores are inhumanely small), etc). Do your research thoroughly and decide if you are commited to doing what it takes to take good care of a hamster (or any animal you may consider as a pet). If you decide to get a pet, adopt him or her. Good Luck my friend.

Its depends what breed or kind of hamster you are thinking to purchase. But female hamsters usually cost around 10$, 20$ at the most. I bought a hamster back in January- He is a male, and he was 22$. But female hamsters cost much less of what i heard.
