I brought my 2005 VW Passat (46,100 miles) into a VW dealer in Minnesota this morning for an oil change. They called and told me two of my CV boots were leaking and that each would cost $330 to repair for a total of $660. I'll probably find someone else to do the work -- or at least check to see if they really are leaking.
The 2005 Volkswagen Passat's engine produces 166 ft-lbs. @ 1950 rpm.
How much does it cost to get brake pads repaired on VW 2003 Passat
If that's dollars it is.
500
the boot you can tell with a visual inspection. there should be no tears in the boot. the boot is there to keep grease in and debris out. if the boot is torn and most of the grease is gone you probably should replace the shaft. if you catch it soon enough though you can just replace the boot which is much cheaper.
$0 It does a VR6 has no timing belt. Rick
It is much cheaper to replace the CV shaft. Purchase a Haynes manual that is specific to your car.
If you are talking a bout a plug wire boot, $ 20.00. I am going to replace it myself this weekend on cyl. #3. $55.00 for boot and coil at auto parts stores.
If you have the proper tools you can change it in about 1.5 hours or less.
About $1,000 to replace the belt and water pump.
The model year, the condition of the vehicle and the location you wish to find your Passat can all have an effect on the price. A Passat can be found for as little as 12,000 in Washington DC, or as much as 25,000 in Palm Beach, FL.
