if all your changed was the fluid and filter, start with 3 quarts and add as necessary to bring it up to a good level on the stick. If you took out the torque converter and rebuilt the transmission, start with 5 or 6 quarts.

Make sure you run it for a few seconds in each gear before you take another reading. The fluid needs to be pumped through Park, and pumped through Reverse and pumped through Neutral and pumped through Drive and 3 and 2 and 1 individually to get an accurate reading on the stick. if You just add it and check it, it will be artificially high on the stick. RUN IT THROUGH THE GEARS, AND DO NOT OVERFILL

The filter is inside the transmission and is not to be serviced. Just drain fluid and replace.

The fluid go in the same hole that the dip stick came out of. You will have to use a funnel.

remove drain plug on drivers side, transmission pan, refill with hyundia jim be sure to use SP II type fluid or Genuine Hyundai tranny fluid. HYUNDAI NOW USES SPIII FLUID. THIS IS COMPATIBLE WITH ALL HYUNDAI A/T.

Transmission fluid should be a nice burgundy red color. If it is brown or black, this is a sign of transmission trouble. If the fluid smells burnt, the transmission will probably need replaced.

There is a plug on the bottom of the transmission to drain it. You will need to heat up the fluid before you drain it. Be very carefull of the hot fluid.
