How much would it cost to convert natural gas range to propane?

I just converted a frigidaire gallery pro series slide in range/stove combo. The range was electric with a 4 burner gas stove top. It took about 2 hrs with all tools and the kit. This included reading "incomplete" instructions. I would say 1 hr plus travel time for field service. So about $150 to $200.

Here is what I learned:

1.) Most stoves now have a conversion kit on the side or back of the appliance ....in a plastic bag or sometimes the fittings (orifices/jets) mounted in spare holes in the metal frame.

2.) It is recommended to be performed buy a "gas certified tech" by most retail stores.

3.)There are different sized orifices for each size of burner ... small medium large.

4.)You need to convert the regulator as well ... from 4 in to 10 in of pressure. Many have a part that flips around under the hex/cap cover to give to select the appropriate spring compression.

5.)You can order the kit for about $30 if you have the model number and brand.

6.) The Propane orifices are actually smaller than the natural gas ones ... but the pressure for propane is higher at 10 in of water. I just assumed that methane (CH3) would be thinner than propane (C3H8) ... but it must be more about the function of a "critical orifice" and pressure for a particular flow rate.

7.)There was a minimum adjustment on each burner that set the simmer setting to a minimum but not letting burner go out in transition from hight to low flame.

This setting is in the hollow axle/post of each valve beneath the burner adjustment knob.

8.)remember to check all line with soapy water after connecting to gas line.
