Best advice is to read the instructions on the tube or container
Chlorhexidine gluconate is the chemical name for the veterinary drug known as Savlon.
Dettol has a stong smell and turns cloudy when poured on water, whereas savlon does not turn cloudy in water. No sting property of savlon is the key differentiator
Often when I have a rash I use savlon cream on it and take an antihistamine like Claratyne or something.
Yes. Rest assured it is quite safe. Only that it may be less potent/effective however.
Savlon Germoline Iodine
I don't know if it's scientifically safe but I work with dogs for 5 years now and I always use savlon on wounds and have had no problems always make sure you have washed and dryed it out first tho to get rid of germs use it only on minor cuts, dry skin, rash or grases. Never use it inside the body, mouth and eyes, and wrap it to make sure it can't be licked and injested.
I suffer from really bad spots and have tried all the creams. I've recently started to use the Savlon liquid. I dilute it with warm water and use a cotton wool pad to apply to the area. I have done this every morning and night for the past 3/4 days and my skin is all clear. Make sure you dilute the solution first, and wash your face before you apply.
Savlon does work on gnat bites. It's antisceptic so it should disinfect it too and reduce the risk of it getting bigger. Read the label. It should tell you if it helps with bites or not if you want to check to make sure.
I would use a plastic washing-up bowl, or a similar bowl, with warm soapy water to which I've added a strong antiseptic liquid (either Dettol or Savlon would be my choice, here in England).
