As far as how long to exercise - forever (or however long you want to be healthy). What exercise depends on you. Great for women include; aerobics, Tae-bo, speed walking, yoga. Running/jogging is great too, but if you are large busted, get a very good bra so you don't get stretch marks. About at least for twenty minutes three times a week.(Learned it in Health class.)

probably a hour-2 hours of good cardio, core and upper body and lower body work out 5 days a week if you want to be fit. most people dont do exercise and most people are over weight for their body for example a girl who is 17 and is 5,5 tall has the ideal body weight of 110 lbs.
