If you want to start holding your baby hamster you should atleast wait until some hair comes because the baby can get sick by people's germs so wait until it has some hair and could walk normally abit
you have to hold them very gentle they are very small cup your hands and let it sit there if you drop it wait a min. if it gets up and moves slowly pick it up and sit it where you got it and leave it alone for a while
If you hold them when they are still depending on their mother , it will cause her to reject the babies, because they rely mostly on there smell. The mother will think the babies are intruders because they have YOUR "smell". I would probably say the right time to hold them is about a couple a weeks. Two or more weeks would be fine. The mother won't reject the babies then. To be safe you should play with them when they have a layer of fur to cover themselves. (I had about 50 babies, but I DIDN'T want a hamster farm). I never had a baby rejected though. Mom hamsters can eat them to, but very rarely. (They have to be starving too) I think that moms rejecting them is very VERY rare. If you have Roborovski's you should look at Roborovski hamsters, a site completely devoted to Robos.
Around 14 day's would be the best. And if your planing to sell them you should wait for 31 day's.
they have to have fur in order for you to hold them or the mom will not reconize it as its own. trust, i been through this
An internet search revealed that baby hamsters should not be handled until they are 14 days old.
At 14 days old.
At 14 days.
You can start handling them when they are about 2-3 weeks old. Do not touch them before then or the mom might eat them
u can start training ur baby hamster wen they r about 7-9 weeks old
They are sooo cutee :) if your bored you can play with your hamster and it will pass time also when you hold them its like holding a baby x
Well you should wait about 4 or 5 weeks because if you hold them when they're not of the right age the mother of the hamster may eat the baby because of the scent you gave the hamster from holding it so wait a while unless you want your baby hamster to be eaten.
A mother hamster has multiple teats on her underbelly. The baby hamsters will latch on to these teats and feed on the mother's milk. After a few weeks the babies will start to eat regular hamster food.
If I remember correctly, they start building their nest first.
Because they can start to breed right away.
A pregnant hamster will start hoarding lots of food and will get a little bit aggressive. They start showing the baby bump about a week before giving birth.
No, probably not. A baby hamster is like a normal hamster, only smaller, and a baby. But my hamster used to bite me a lot and I didn't get infected. so, no you won't.
Cuz they're freaks.
They'll drink their mother's milk until they are old enough to eat hamster food, at which point they'll start eating it on their own.
