How do you add hydraulics for accessories on ford 4000 tractor?

Ford makes a adaptor block that will allow you to add hydraulic circuits to the tractor. If you only need one or two circuits you can get a set of control valves that will mount in place of this block. Both will mount just under the front edge of the operator seat. Be warned the pump on the 4000 doesnt move a lot oil and the circuits may be slow. Other wise you can add a pump to the front of the engine or to the PTO on the rear. The front pump should be available from ford. The PTO pump is available at a lot of after market locations.

pto shaft?

What is a PTO shaft or what’s the PTO shaft definition/meaning? On a tractor, PTO stands for Power Take-Off. A power takeoff shaft delivers power to the installed implement on the tractor. A tractor is a versatile agricultural machine that can perform a range of jobs. It’s usually used to pull implements, which necessitates the use of a PTO tractor. Tractor PTO is utilized for many duties such as moving water pumping apparatus, rotavator, fertilizing, harvesting, and more. For front tractor connections in China and other industrialized countries, the PTO shaft is basically on the rear. With its 8-16 model, the International Harvester Company (IHC) created the PTO shaft (Power Take Off shaft) in 1918. It was the first tractor manufacturer to provide PTO shafts. Edward A. Johnston, an IHC engineer, designed the tractor PTO shaft. A homemade PTO shaft had previously inspired him in France. Edward A. Johnston and his colleagues incorporated the notion of Tractor PTO shaft into the 8-16. To effectively test the concept, they created a farm tools family. When it comes to types, there are various tractor PTO drive shafts such as square PTO shafts, CV joint PTO shafts, heavy-duty PTO shafts, etc. As one of the professional PTO drive shaft manufacturers and suppliers, Ever-power offers high-quality PTO shafts and yokes at very competitive prices!

What is a PTO on a riding lawn mower?

PTO is short for Power takeoff. It is to control a shaft comming out of a vehicle to power things like a snow blower attached to the front, or to control things on the back of a tractor... I never heard of a PTO on a lawn mower... It must be a pretty big lawn Mower. PTO on a riding mower will be an electric engaged clutch used to power a belt drive or other attachments. Oh yes, your right.. perhaps it may be the pull handle to engage it also.

Why does your John Deere mower die after engaging the blades seat safety switch is by-passed?

I believe you have a defective seat switch. The switch is designed to sense if the operator is setting on the tractor when the PTO is engaged. For instance, if you stop moving and step off the tractor with the PTO engaged, it will kill the engine for safety reasons. When the switch is defective or has a disconnected/broken wire, the switch will not send a signal that there is a person on the seat. The switch is located either on the tractors seat pan under the seat or may be located in the seat itself. It is easy to test the switch with an ohm meter, if the switch tests good, work your way back the wires until termination to look for failures. If you are a person of light weight, the switch can be adjusted for sensitivity by loosening the lock nut and raising the switch higher on the seat pan or further into the seat. Other things to check; 1. while setting on the seat with the key on but not running, you may hear a click when you turn the PTO switch on. 2. If the above is true, remove the spark plug wire(s) and attempt to turn the blades by hand, they should move freely. 3. If the above is not true, something is binding the deck/blades which will cause the engine to die. 4. Remove the belt the goes from the PTO to the deck and try turning on the PTO as normal, if the engine dies, it is likely the seat switch. If not, it is likely that the deck is the cause. Hope this helps.
