In NY, you must be 17 to obtain a LPN license, and 18 to become a Registered Nurse. I have added a link to a Google list of state Boards of Nursing.
Unsolicited advice: Take the extra year (or two) to get your RN license. LPNs, sadly, are much more limited in their scope of practice, employment opportunities, and make, in most cases, less.
It's not about your age it is about the schooling you have gone through and if you have all the requirements to fill the position
It doesn't take years, it only takes about 4-5 months.
