Well, the engagement is not as formal as a wedding. If you are not going to invite the people from your job to the wedding dont formally announce your engagement. That would only appear you are fishing for gifts. If you are not going to be inviting every person at work to the engagement party and wedding, then you send the invitations to the people from work that you do plan on inviting to both, to their homes. This way there is no static among the co-workers themselves. Im sure the people at your job have an idea that you are in a serious relationship with the collegue and just announcing in verbally should be sufficient enough to the coworkers with whom you associate with on a regular basis and go from there.
