Set it to infinite which may be a sideways 8. When you touch the leads the needle should swing to zero. If it comes to rest on a different number such as 10 then change the batteries. If it continues to give the same reading then you may need to replace it.

Analog multimeters have both a range switch and an adjustment control. I assume you are asking about the adjustnent control, not the range switch. The ohms adjust control is used to set the full scale deflection of the meter to zero ohms. First, select the range you wish to use. Next, short your leads together. Finally, adjust the control to obtain exactly zero ohms on the meter.

What are the parts of an analog voltmeter and its functions?

An analog voltmeter measure voltage and resistance along with the current. The parts include a needle, a spring, resistors, and a way to control it. That would be a knob or rheostat.

At which end of the ohms scale are resistance measurement more reliable the zero end or the infinity end?

On an analog ohmmeter, measurements are more precise and more accurate at the zero end of the scale.

How is the voltage measureing range of the basic analog meter movement extended?

shunt resistances are used to increase the range of ammetes and moreover it is praticularly then we have to low value shunt resistance.

What is the resistance scale on an analog multimeter often termed?

Resistance is measured in ohms, so some refer to the resistance scale as the ohms scale.

What are AD and DA?

AD is Analog to Digital conversion the use is to do digital measurements of analog voltages and currents, a computer soundcard is an AD converter that convert analog sound to digital sound so that it can be played on a computer, and DA is the opposite, digital to analog conversion, the digital sound on the computer is converted to analog sound to drive a speaker or headphone

Why you do analog to analog conversion?

To isolate a patient from getting connected to stray voltages. An isolation transformer is used and batteries power it to further isolate you from the real world. Also for sensitive measurements to eliminate some of the noise and current loops.
