Answer 1

The question is very good. Because Islam is a religion and/or an ideology, there's no relation to genotype. There are no physiological aspects, inherited or emergent, that conclusively identify Islam (as opposed to some Maori religions, where tattoos can be a reliable identifier). While some geographic areas have a large percentage of Islam populations, nowhere is there 100%. Even mosques have visitors, and those whose faith is wavering. Bottom Line: You can't tell since a person's body is not changed in any way by their religious beliefs.

There is no solid answer for this that could apply in all situations. Obviously, her family is likely to know, so they might be able to give you a clue. However should you trip over a deceased woman while walking down the street and no one is in the immediate vicinity who can inform you of the woman's denominational preferences in life, take the high road and dial 911 and let those who are paid to deal with such deal with it.

There is no clear-cut way to tell, but here are some suggestions:

Clothing

If any girl is a real Muslim, she will never let her body exposed for all to see. It does not mean that all girls who do not wear the Hijab are not Muslims, but wearing a Hijab is a good indication of a girl's Muslim identity. I mean she will be under guardianship of either her father or after marriage, of her husband and does not show herself to others.

If you are looking for straightforward answer, a Muslim woman or girl is always covered her entire body except her face, wrist, and foot.

Without Clothing

If the body had nothing with it (i.e. naked) then there is nothing that would indicate any religion. Unless a female is wearing the traditional head covering, there is no way to differentiate between a Muslim and non-Muslim.

Ask Neighbors

You can possibly track a relative or close friend and find out.

You can research about her for example ask her relatives or her neighbors or search in her pockets to see if you find something like Qur'an or an ID card with this type of information. In most Muslim-majority countries, religion is indicated on identity cards.

Reasonable Guesswork

If she lay near a Muslim town, rather then a non-Muslim town, it is more likely that she is a Muslim. Therefore, she will be considered a Muslim and given a proper bath and funeral. Alternately, in South Asia, non-Muslims are usually Hindus which results in the body's cremation.

Bodily Marks

If she was Muslim then she must offered prayers five times a day. Then there will signs on left foot and knees due to sitting during prayers. There is also a rough sign on her forehead by making Sajda in prayers

For Those Already Identified/Buried

The answer is that when you see her body, it will be covered by a three piece white garment that resembles a towel. This towel is similar to the towel used in the Muslim practice of Hajj.

First of all, a Muslim woman's grave looks much different from anyone's grave. Before a Muslim woman is buried in her grave, she is washed and then her whole body is covered with white cloth but her face only shows. i don't think other religions do that, that's why it's easy to identify a Muslim from a non-Muslim.

Muslims usually have a vertical stone at head side of grave and for woman two stone one at head and one at foot.

Some believe in the following approaches to identfy that the dead woman is Muslim or non Muslim. I list them down although I don't believe in the authenticity or the validity of any of them:

  1. According to Behlol Majzoob (book: Behlol Danaa) : When dead body is washed before burial, collect that water and give it to a horse. If the horse drinks this water then the dead body is of a Muslim woman otherwise the body is of a non Muslim.
  2. You have to bend body in the shape of Sajada. If you can bend it then leave it in that position for 1min. Check the Forehead, if a sign appears of Sajada on her forehead, then its Muslim, if not, then Non Muslim.

If you can't give a shape for any reason, there is no way you can find it.

Answer 2

Some options are:

  1. Scientifically; using fingerprinting, DNA, and other scientific indicators.
  2. There may be an ID card or the like.
  3. She me be known to someone by a sign or some moark on her body
  4. Her cloth if covering all her body including head, hair, and neck (not necessarily covering face and hand fingers.
  5. there may be some signs on her forehead or knees (that appear due to praying)

Answer 3

Appearance of the dead-body will decide whether she is a Muslim or a non-Muslim. For example if she is wearing jewelry that is worn by Hindu women, she is a Hindu. If she is wearing a cross, she is a Christian. That is why Muslims are advised to not copy other religions and nations in their outward appearance.

Though dead, she'll be in Islamic dress like wearing Hijab. There could be signs of Salat/Salah (Islamic prayer) on her forehead. Otherwise it is impossible for anybody to tell from an average woman's dead-body which religion she belonged to. email. nazim1326@Yahoo.com
