Any rusty lines can always be a pain in ones side when it comes to removal time, here is what I have learned....first spray the rusted line with rust buster heavily , let this fluid soak in , get a small plumbers torch and keep a small fire extinguisher nearby, begin by gently heating the line till it turns red, at this time try to brake it loose from the wheel cylinder with the appropriate line wrenches, you may need to lightly tap the rusted areas with a small ball peen hammer and repeat the spray and heat until you finally get the job apart. Be careful not to burn yourself as the areas getting heat will stay real hot for a long time, wear leather work gloves if possible and a good pair of googles for eye protection on yourself. Happy Trails!!!

Does a clutch master cylinder get gummed up?

Just disassembled the master cylinder on my Mazda B2000. It had rusty looking gunk in it and had formed rusty brown deposits on the cylinder wall. It was working in spite of this until the rubber of the primary cup split. Rebuilt the slave cylinder not long ago and it was gunked up worse than the master cylinder. Had to remove some crusty deposits to get the piston and cups out of the cylinder.

Check for leaks under vehicle. You may have blown a hole through a rusty brake line.

What causes a brake light to come on 1992 buick lesaber?

Brake fluid could be low. Check for leaky brake lines under the car also. Quite often older cars have rusty brake lines that leak fluid sometimes just a little bit but these should be repaired as they can blow apart when you hit the brakes hard and cause an accident. Check your emergency brake and make sure it as pulled all the way off also.

How do replace studs on 1998 dodge avenger?

The wheel studs are replaced by first removing the tire from the brake. Remove the disk brake pads and caliper if it is the front and remove the brake drum if it is the back. Once you have the brake disk or drum off, simply pound the studs with a heavy hammer and they will pop out the back. if you plan on reusing the studs put the nut on the threads so it is flush with the end and then use hammer as not to ruin threads. Spray WD-40 or heat the brake disk/drum(not the studs) if they are stubborn or rusty.

Why won't the calipers release after applying brakes on 1993 silverado?

Rusty and dirty calibers, rusty mounting points, rusty caliber slide pins, or contaminated brake fluid. Brake fluid absorbs moisture and I would bet yours is severely contaminated. Completely flush your entire brake system and replace with the proper fluid from and unopened can. Bleed the brake system and see what you have at that time. Replace the guide pins if they are rusty or pitted. Lubricate them with silicone brake lube. Clean off all mounting points with a wire brush, do not use a grinder. You may need to replace the calibers to completely solve the problem. Brake fluid should be changed every 36,000 miles at a minimum.

Why are rusty cars unsafe to drive?

The car is safe due to the strength of the body. If it is rusty the strength goes away quickly. Also all the brake and steering parts are mounted to pieces that rust also.
