Most recommend every 3000 miles. I think the oil change indicator on your Malibu is set at 3500 miles. The information center on you instrument panel will let you know when an oil change is due. I recommend every 5,000 miles with conventional oil and every 8,000 miles with synthetic assuming you drive normally. Change it exactly as described in your owners manual if it is less than my recommendation. The 3,000 mile oil change is a thing of the past and is a waste of oil and money.
The oil change reminder can not be set to 5000. The computer factors in idle time, average speed, ambient temperature, and other items to decide when the oil change is due. It can come on between 2000 and 7500 miles.
The "change oil light" doesn't run off of the quality/quantity of the oil; it runs off of the odometer and the "memory" of the last time the "change oil light" was reset. In other words, if you changed the oil at 3,500 miles and reset the light at that time, the light will automatically come on at 7,000 miles as a reminder to change the oil. You can reset the light yourself in about 5 seconds. The "change oil light" doesn't run off of the quality/quantity of your oil. It runs off of a pre-determined distance from the last time the light was reset - presumably, the last time the oil was changed. For instance, if you change your oil at 3,500 miles, and the light is set to go off every 3,500 miles, then it will again go off at 7,000 miles, regardless of whether you re-changed the oil. Its just a reminder device. You can also reset the light yourself in about 5 seconds.
You change tires when they are worn out, not at a set mileage.
The dashboard oil change-reminder light is calibrated to turn on 7,500 miles after it was last re-set- and it should be re-set at each oil change. This is probably a good mileage to change 'standard' motor oil and filter. However, if you use so-called 'high-mileage' synthetic oil, you can probably get at least 10,000 miles between oil and filter changes UNLESS you drive in severe climates or under severe conditions.
First off, its a chain, NOT a belt, and you DONT change it unless it breaks. You can SET the timing, but you dont have to change the chain. You need a timing light to re-set it if its off. Its like a strobe light.
There is a time set right above hazzard light
It is about $3000 dollars for a set.
You can not change the time frame for when the light will come on. It is part of the computer programming.
Push the set button and with the set light on, press either the scan or seek buttons to change the hours and minutes. GoodluckJoe
Borrowed from silverado answer: Push the set button and with the set light on, press either the scan or seek buttons to change...
The grand prix has an electronic speedometer that can be set to read-out in miles per hour or kilometres per hour, the red mph means its currently set to read miles per hour
