I found this out while trying several things on my 2000 van. You have to put your key in the ignition (don't turn it yet). Then push both the trip and odometer buttons and hold them in while turning the key to the first power on position (clockwise). Just enough for your odometer lights to come on. Your trip display should show miles travelled instead of the odometer distance. Then release both buttons and push the trip button once. It will display the OBD code error your have! Good Luck.
With a scan tool.

Go to an auto parts store and ask them to run a scan. It's free and they check the codes with a special scan tool
That requires a scan tool.
turn power on off on off on. do not start just the power
With a code reader that plugs in under the drivers side dash.
Engine codes start at 11 Could it be 55 which means N/A
Put the key in the ignition, and turn it from "off" to "run" (WITHOUT STARTING) Three times. The odometer screen should then start to read out the stored fault codes.
Trouble code P0601 means: Internal Control Module Memory Check Sum Error
Take to your nearest partshouse ( Kragen, Autozone) They will usually plug it in and tell you what is wrong for free
55 code is not an error code, it signals end of codes. If no other codes preceded it, you have no error codes.
Turn the key on then off and on again then off again then on once more and watch the check engine light count how many times it flashes. it will flash 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 or it will flash 2 then pause then flash 5 more time for 25 or so on.
