It probably the airbag sensor. If it is a Boxster prior to 2000 it has just gone bad with age. Go to your local shop to have it replaced. It shouldn't be too expensive around $50 to $75 dollars depending on the shops mark up and price per hourly service.

A blinking check engine light means an ignition cylinder misfire has been detected
You can't "clear" it unless you fix the problem that is causing the light to be on in the first place. That's the way all airbag systems work.
Have a look at the following URL attached. It is complete and very easy to follow. http://www.bombaydigital.com/boxster/projects/headlamp/ My husband and I took our boxster to a local repair shop. They wanted to charge us $800 to replace the light. Told us the entire light assembly had to be replaced to change the bulb. I told my husband not to do it that I would look on eBay for the part. Thankfully, I did a web query and asked how to change a lightbulb in a Porsche boxster and found this site. I'm totally stunned that my local repair shop wanted to gouge us so much.
A person can reset the Airbag light in this car by fixing the problem that caused it to turn on. They can also use an OBD scanner and clear the codes on it.
When a car is being inspected, it cannot have the airbag light on. The light can be reset by an OBDii scanner, that will clear the code causing the problem or by disconnecting the battery for 30+ minutes.
