Simple answer is "you don't". The whole idea behind DLR's is that you are easier to see in any kind of weather. The lights are on a separate circuit and operate at a lower wattage. Unless the vehicle is equipped with automatic 'lights on' you have to remember to manually switch on at dusk so that you have rear lights. Why would anyone want to disable a safety feature?? If a car is sold with them enabled, then you have the ability to disable them, you will possibly lose some car insurance discount. Some cars come without them. My 2005 Honda Accord came without them. My 2006 Honda Accord came with them. Of course I will disable them, just on a temporay basis. I like total control of my headlights.
