Depending on the make of your automobile, there are several different ways to accomplish this. If you are driving an early model chevy, with car in neutral rev the engine to appx. 3300 rpm and fill until the fluid is about half way up the filler tube. On later model chevys there is no need to rev the engine. On Ford models, you will need to clean the entire system by flushing and then draining. this can be accomplished by adding just a small amount (about half a cup) of window washer fluid and driving about 100 miles before draining and filling the transmission. Unlike the chevy this can be done with the car off. For Dodge, crysler and most foreign model there is no need to fill the transmission due to the fact that there is not one installed. The drive shaft is simply bolted directly to the moter. If you drive anything else, consult a manual. Which you should have done in the first place instead of wasting your time reading this paragraph that I just completely made up.

The fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the side of the manual transmission underneath the vehicle with the vehicle level
On a 2000 Ford Ranger : On a manual transmission , underneath the vehicle , on the transmission will be a fill plug . With the vehicle level the fill plug is cleaned and removed to check the fluid level ( the fluid level should be at the bottom of the fill plug hole )

The manual transmission on a Ford Ranger should be changed on a regular basis. Fill the transmission with any good quality regular or synthetic transmission fluid.
I believe the fill plug is on the driver's side of the 5 speed manual transmission - on a level surface , clean the fill plug before removing and check to see if fluid level is level with the bottom of the opening . If it is not add the recommended transmission fluid until it is.
You fill it until it runs out the fill hole on the side of the transmission.
My Haynes manual says to fill it by removing the speed sensor.
It is done at the transmission, Drain plug on bottom and fill plug on top side. Fill until lube comes out the fill hole. Make sure you install the correct lube. Some manual transmission Rangers use A/T fluid and some use a manual transmission lube. Check your owner's manual for the correct application.
The manual transmission doesn't have a dipstick , the fluid level is checked at the fill plug on the transmission underneath the car
The transmission fluid filler is located in the back of the engine compartment on the 2007 Accent manual transmission. You fill it by removing the dipstick.
