Trust me, and follow these instructions...
1st..take out the battery, and battery tray
2nd..remove the cooling fan from the back of the readiator.
Now comes the fun part...the top bolt is located on the BOTTOM edge of the driver side motor mount. mine is a 15mm..yours prob is too..its just below the motor mount bolt. The bottom bolt should have been easy...if you look at the starter from the bottom driver side...you'll see the bottom bolt and what LOOKS like another bolt (hole)...don't panic...this is just a hole for the lineup pin, which you will see once you get the starter out...and THAT is all there is to get your starter out...reverse the process, and you should be back on the road. Hope this helps!
Not sure what you mean by back bolt ? There are 2 bolts holding the starter on. They both screw into the starter from the back. there is one on the bottom and accessed from underneath, and the one on the top is accessed from the top. Unhook the battery ground and remove the air box to gain access to the top bolt.
take the breather filter off and look down at the transmissionthe top starter bolt is right there
The relay is separate from the actual "starter solenoid" which is found at the top of the starter (along the + battery cable).
It is on the top of the starter, It's part of the starter.
For the 3.0 liter engine. Disconnect negative battery terminal. Locate starter at lower front of engine by engine fans. 2 bolts holding starter in, upper and lower. Remove lower bolt 3/4 way- easy to see, upper bolt go from top of engine to remove (need extensions). Completely remove lower bolt and remove positive battery connector and signal wire on top of starter. Install reverse of removal.
The solenoid on this model is part of the starter motor, mounted directly on top of it.
The easiest way to get to the top starter bolt is with 12" extension and a 13 mil socket. You have to feel your way between the solenoid and the block. You can only take the starter off from the top if the engine is on a engine stand
