A bitch will look for dark/private places to nest, and at the onset of labour will be restless, panting and may engage in digging activity. If you have a garden, she may want to go out all the time to dig, and may drop a pup out there. If you can, stay with the digging, as it is thought to aid contractions.
The first tell tale sign is the bitch will stop showing any interest in food. Her temp will drop a degree or two. That will tell you it will be within the next 24 hours. She will begin nesting, digging aggresively. Panting (very fast) and shaking are signs that she is very close.
The dog probably won't want to eat, will go someplace to hide (under your bed, ect.),shivering and sickness (your dog will vomit, shiver, ect.), and will always want to be near you. Hope I helped. :) If it's your dog giving birth, I wish you and her luck! I'm guessing the puppies will be adorable :)
She will be laying down, panting and contracting her lower body.
She should have been pacing earlier on for a place that would be suitable for her puppies to be born in.

there IS no English staffodshire bull terrier BREED. :S Yes, there IS an English Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed. There are 2 types of Staffordshire Bull Terrier breeds - American AND English. is the first dog a staffodshire bull terrier, or an English bull terrier, or a cross of both????? :S
Firstly, the Pit Bull is not actually a breed, but the term is used to refer to breeds such as the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and sometimes the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Assuming by ''Pit Bull'' you mean the American Pit Bull Terrier or American Staffordshire Terrier, the difference is that the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a few inches shorter, weighs less and was first bred in England. ''Pit Bull'' type dogs are unfortunately illegal in many countries, such as the UK, with the exception of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier; which is still legal.
