I'm having a problem with a broken Hood Latch on a 1991 Plymouth Voyager minivan. The usual answer I have found is to try to pull on the cable directly with a pair of plyers somewhere along the path of the cable, normally cutting through the cable guide to get to the cable itself. Failing that, the second usual answer is to get a crowbar and a new hood... Myself, I consulted some repair manuals on replacing the latch to determine it's type and location, carefully drilled a 1/4 inch hole through the hood, and used a wire coat hanger to trip the latch. I plan on patching the hole with bond-o and match paint.
I'm just putting this answer out there cause it's such a simple fix that shouldn;t force you to buy a whole new hood. Mechanics are even using the "just pry it open and the charge to replace the hood" approach!
You pull the latch and open the hood.
You can try unscrewing the grille and getting your hand or tools up to the latch.
With a pair of pliers pulling the latch.
How to open of my BMW 745LI Yr 2003 hood ,whose Hood latch is broken while tried to open the hood
i would probably use a screwdriver to nudge where the latch used to be to pop it open
Use a set of pliers to pull the cable even if the plastic latch is broken...

how to get a 2001 isuzu trooper hood open if release cable is broken
you can get to the latch through the grill
go under neath the front end behind the grill and you can grab the wire for the latch just pull it and the hood will pop open drive safe
There is a screwdriver slot behind the grill that will operate the hood latch. Look for it on the driver's side.
