All you have to do is right click on the file to be opened, go down to properties and under open it with, click the change button and find a program i.e. photoshop, paint, etc, select the program you would like scroll down and click apply and then ok. When this is done properly, you will be able to open a tmp file. This also works for other situations. An easy fix.
