the same way it came off
Remove the alternator belt on your 2000 Oldsmobile. Disconnect the wiring harness from the back of the alternator. Remove the alternator retaining bolts. Put the new alternator on and reverse the process.
My alternator stopped recharging my battery but I can't take the tension off my serpentine belt to put my alternator back on.
Relax belt by holding automatic belt tensioner with large socket and/or breaker bar
unhook the serpentine belt, unbolt the old alternator, un-clip the electrical parts, bring the old alternator back to the store for its core :) put the new alternator in exactly as you found the old one, put the serpentine belt back on, run for 5 minutes, re tension the belt
Use a large wrench to take tension off of your serpentine belt and remove the belt from the alternator, (just the alternator). Disconnect the wires. Remove the bolts then the alternator. Put new alternator in place using old bolts. Replace wires (may only be one wire, depending on the alternator). Get your large wrench back out, put the belt back on the alternator, and your good to go.
What belt? Drive belt is easy, just loose the 3 bolts on the alternator, pry the alternator forward, put the new belt on, pry the alternator back, and tighten the bolts. Power steering belt is much more difficult.
There is a pulley directly underneath your alternator that has a nut on the back of it. You'll need a wrench to put on it and push down to get slack on the belt. After removing the belt there are three bolts (two in the front and one on the back) that need to be removed. Then disconnect the wire harness and you may need something to pry the alternator out of the bracket and that's it.
Loosen the alternator tensioner bolt. The alternator belt will become loose. Remove the alternator belt. Put the new alternator belt on and reverse the process.
you start by loosening the tension pulley that's actually hooked to the alternator(right off the top bolt), once this is loosened, you can move the alternator back to where the belt fits and tighten it back up and your done
You have to take off the alternator to be able to reach the fan . After you should oiul the belt to slip on the fan very easy . Put the alternator back on and your ready to go .
Yes.
your fan belt may be connected to your alternator if so loosen alternator romove belt put new one on and pull alternator back until proper tension is aqquired tighten
