Remove the retaining cover to your 2005 Chevy Malibu radio. Remove the radio retaining screws. Slide the radio out. Remove the wiring harness and the antenna cable.

To remove the radio remove the mounting screws for the center console. Pull the center console off the 2005 Acura TL. Remove the rest of the mounting screws and pull the radio.
If the display is out, but the radio operates otherwise, the radio has failed.
2005 model
Remove the two phillips head screws just above the center instrument gauges. Start from the left and pull the black panel assembly out. This will then reveal the 4 screws holding the radio in place, and from there you can use whatever after market product that plugs into the back of the radio.
The radio display is usually tied to the dash board lights. As you raise or lower the illumination on the dash, the radio lights should change. During the day (with your headlights off), the radio display is at full brightness so it is easier to read in daylight.
To remove the dash to get to the radio from a 2005 Kia Optima, begin by prying around the edge of the trim around the gear shifter. Then, remove the screws from the bottom of the dash and pry the trim away from the radio area. This will expose the radio bezel.
Unscrew it.
If the display is not on when you turn the ignition on. First you check the fuses. radio memory is usually run with the courtesy light fuse. The main radio fuse is marked radio. Second you pull the radio out and test the power leads to the radio. If you have no power then there may be a short in a wire. If there is power on the power leads then the radio must be replaced.
